SailMates was born from the idea to give people in the sailing world one place where trips and crews are easier to find. Skippers and organisers can publish their trips and find people for their crew. Those looking for a spot on board can find a trip and connect directly with the skipper.

Skippers and companies publish trips, crew browse them, book a spot and leave verified reviews. The sailing contract is formed directly between the organiser and the participant.

Two makers, one passion for the sea.
We're sailors and software makers. SailMates was born by combining what we love with what we know how to do.
Over time we realised we were missing one place that would bring together what already existed and add what hadn't been there yet.
That's how SailMates came about. And we build it the way we'd want to use it ourselves.

SailMates will be a place connecting people looking for an open spot on board with skippers and organisers, who will be able to publish their trip here and fill up the crew.
In the trip detail you'll find the date, an interactive map with the itinerary, number of open spots and other important information. If it suits you, you express interest in a spot and message the skipper or organiser directly through SailMates. Then you arrange everything you need together.
Yes. If you're a skipper or organiser looking for crew, you simply publish your trip on SailMates. You add the date, click out the route on the map — which automatically calculates the nautical miles — add the itinerary, number of open spots and everything important the crew should know before setting sail.
No. SailMates won't organise the trips themselves or set their terms. Those — including the price and payment method — you arrange directly with the skipper or organiser of the specific trip.
After completing a trip, crew members will be able to rate the skipper and the trip itself. Reviews help you get a better idea of the skipper and how the trip went, and make it easier to choose your next one.
Using SailMates is free. You can create a profile, find and book a trip, publish your own or find people for your crew. The price of a trip is set by the skipper or organiser, who settles payment directly with the sailor. At this stage SailMates charges no fees or commissions and does not get involved in payments. Our goal is to connect people, create a place for the sailing community, and make sailing more accessible to more people.
